HYDERABAD: Gujarat Inspector General of Police Geeta Johri left for Ahmedabad on Saturday morning after two days of hectic investigations into the alleged kidnap and fake encounter of Sohrabuddin and Kausar Bi. Ms. Johri who arrived here on Wednesday night held consultations with several top police officials of the State, including Director General of Police M.A. Basith, and Hyderabad Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh. She conducted a marathon inquiry with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Deputy Inspector General E. Radhakrishna, at the CRPF group headquarters here. She also had a long chat with Additional Commissioner of City Police (Crimes) Rajiv Trivedi who is in-charge of the Special Investigation Team that tracks terrorist activities. Ms. Johri had a word of praise for the State police for cooperating with her in the investigations. The IPS officer is scheduled to submit the report on her findings to the Supreme Court by Tuesday. Based on her report, the apex court is expected to pass an order whether to refer further investigation into the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Sources said this was the second visit of Ms. Johri to the State while probing the case. In her last visit, she had reconstructed the scene of offence by interrogating crew and staff of the travel agencies that were involved in transportation of Sohrabuddin, Kausar Bi and Tulasiram Prajapati by a bus from Hyderabad to Belgaum in November 2005. She had also visited the place where the trio were whisked away by policemen from the bus en route. They added that Ms. Johri had kept her previous visit a closely guarded secret. Even senior police officials were unaware of her tour. She submitted her initial report to the Supreme Court after her preliminary inquiries here.
