Tirumala: TTD Board Chairman B. Karunakar Reddy on Saturday launched a scheme which envisages distribution of a laddu each free of cost to all pilgrims having darshan of the Lord in the Dharma Darshanam queue lines. Earlier, the TTD was providing one laddu each to all the pilgrims having the darshan of Lord in the ordinary queue lines at a subsidised price of Rs.5 each. But with the TTD Trust Board enhancing the price of the laddu to Rs. 25 each from Rs.10, the management during its last board meeting resolved to provide one laddu free to all the pilgrims.
`Pushthaka Prasadam'
Mr. Reddy also inaugurated the `Pushthaka Prasadam' at both the queue complexes. Under the scheme, all the visiting devotees shall be provided with various publications of the TTD in five different languages at free of cost. In this connection, he also commissioned two counters specially set up for the purpose at both the complexes. Later talking to mediapersons, Mr. Reddy said that even though the implementation of both the schemes involves a huge financial drain on the TTD exchequer, it is being implemented and shall be continued in the larger interest of common devotees as well as the organisation. Prominent among others who participated in the programme include TTD Executive Officer K.V. Ramanachary and member trustee O.V. Ramana.
