  • TDP Government accused of spending huge amount on advertisements
  • Vision 2020 of the TDP is a big farce, says Minister

KURNOOL: Minister for Marketing M. Mareppa said the government would go all out to fulfil its promises in the next two years.

Addressing a meeting in connection with the Rededication Day celebrated by the Government here on Saturday, he said the Congress Government did not want to earn a bad reputation like the previous TDP government by misleading people.

ZP Chairman L. Venkata Swamy presided over the meeting. MLAs -- Challa Ramakrishna Reddy, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, Gouru Charita Reddy, M. Sikhamani, M.A. Gafoor, T. Srinivasulu, Collector M. Dana Kishore and others were present. The Minister accused the TDP Government of spending a huge amount on advertisements without doing much to people. The Vision 2020 of the TDP was a big farce, he said. He said the Congress wanted to bring substantial benefits to everybody in the State by improving irrigation, reviving agriculture and solving basic problems like housing, ration cards and pensions.

MLA Challa Ramakrishna Reddy and M.A. Gafoor had heated argument when the latter tried to say that there was no coordination among the elected representatives, Government and the officials. The problems were getting heaped in villages while officials did not bother to attend to them.

Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy asked his colleague not to mislead people by saying the Congress Government did nothing.

Later, the Minister and the MLAs distributed assets worth Rs 2 crores to 14,000 women groups through DRDA, Rs 13.57 lakhs to 21 beneficiaries under PMRY, Rs 42.43 lakhs to 77 minority women groups, cycles to 60 girls under Unicef, tractors worth Rs 80 lakhs to 26 beneficiaries, and tricycles to 50 disabled persons.
