KANCHEEPURAM: The windscreens of over 10 lorries, used for transporting sand, were damaged in stone-throwing during a funeral procession at Wallajahbad near here on Saturday. The police prevented sand lorries from taking the Wallajahbad-Padappai Road. Enquiries revealed that Sundaravadivel and Kumaraguru of Wallajahbad were fatally knocked down by a sand lorry on Friday night when they were returning home after visiting their friend at Thimmasamudhram. This morning, mourners who were returning from the graveyard after performing last rites for Sundaravadivel at around 9 a.m. threw stones at sand lorries that passed through Wallajahbad. The police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
