MBA among 3 arrested

NEW DELHI: A 31-year-old MBA degree holder has been arrested along with two men by the Narcotics Branch of the Delhi police for allegedly being in possession of 50 gm of cocaine.

According to the police, Jogpreet Singh, a native of Punjab, and Rajeev Sharma, a drug-peddler, were arrested at Lajpat Nagar here on Friday. During a search, the police allegedly recovered 12 gm of cocaine from Rajeev and 1.5 gm from Jogpreet. At their instance, one Sameer Khan was later arrested near the Ashram flyover, allegedly with 35 gm of cocaine.

Father, son acquitted

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has acquitted a father-son duo in a dowry death case noting that the victim had a suicidal tendency.

In a recent order, Additional Sessions Judge Bharat Parashar acquitted Deepak and his father Heera Lal of the charges under Sections 498-A (husband or relative subjecting woman to cruelty), 306 (abetment to suicide) and 304-B (dowry death) of the Indian Penal Code.

Production warrant

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Saturday issued a production warrant against underworld don Om Prakash Srivastava alias Babloo Srivastava, who has been charged under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) by the Special Cell of the Delhi police.

Report sought

New Delhi: Taking into consideration Lok Sabha MP Pappu Yadav's demand for entertainment channels on television inside Tihar prison, a court on Saturday sought a report from the Jail Superintendent regarding the feasibility and other concerned issues.

Minor fire at ITO

NEW DELHI: A minor fire broke out in a three-storey building housing offices and a store of the Kapurthala Coach Factory at ITO here on Saturday.

According to Fire Service Dept, over a dozen abandoned asbestos kiosks caught fire around 11-30 a.m. Eight tenders took an hour to put out the blaze.
