The Madras Medical Mission's nursing staff celebrated International Nurses Day here on Saturday.
Hospital nursing superintendent Susan Alexander said it marked the 187th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.
Josephine Little Flower, Registrar, Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, spoke on `Positive Practice Environments: Quality workplaces and Quality patient care.'
Nurses excelling in in-service education were awarded.
Hospital vice president Verghese Eapen highlighted the important role of nurses in patient care.
A. Purna Chander, lecturer, Department of Social Work, Loyola College, spoke on stress management.
There was a cultural programme by the unit staff.
