Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje
JAIPUR: Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje projected Rajasthan in front of NRIs and business community in the United Arab Emirates over the weekend as one of the premier investment destinations in India. The development works, along with pro-active policy interventions, carried out by her Government in the State in the past three years made Rajasthan the "most peaceful, law-abiding and healthy destination in the country," she said inaugurating the India Festival 2007 in Dubai. "Care of the disadvantaged and generation of sustainable livelihoods have been the priorities for our Government. Today the mechanisms are in place for investors to participate in creating a better and brighter Rajasthan," Ms. Raje said, according to an official release here. Ms. Raje formally inaugurated the festival by cutting the ceremonial ribbon, which followed a traditional welcome ceremony. Mohammed Al Murr, Chairman of Dubai Cultural Council, Salah El Quassim, its Secretary-General, and Gulab Kothari, Editor of Rajasthan Patrika, were present on the occasion along with hundreds of NRIs, members of the business community of UAE, diplomats and other dignitaries. Speaking to an assembly of business leaders, Ms. Raje made specific mention of how public-private partnerships were successfully working in Rajasthan in areas such as roads, energy, health care, education, water and food security. She talked at length about the policy to promote private investment in health care facilities and said that the State was looking at investments of over Rs. 2,000 crore in this sector alone. Ms. Raje also mentioned the new Integrated Township Policy, the new hotel policy and the State bio-fuel policy as instruments aimed at boosting investor confidence while safeguarding the interests of the disadvantaged segments of society. Talking about Dubai's performance in tourism, she said it was time other destinations learnt from Dubai, which attracted the highest number of tourists in the world. The India Festival 2007 Dubai is the first of its kind organised by Rajasthan Patrika in the Emirates. It has provided a platform for showcasing goods and services produced in India. Ms. Raje was felicitated by non-resident Rajasthanis, represented by their many associations in Dubai.
