CHENNAI: As a follow-up to its celebrity series in which local stars talked about the city, Radio One 94.3 FM channel is now introducing `Radio One Superstar,' in which unsung heroes will be identified and honoured. The concept of the show is to honour people who are working to make Chennai a better place. It will be a segment on a show aired between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, hosted by RJ Anoo. She has already been requesting listeners to nominate potential candidates. This can be done through nomination forms available at the station office in Nungambakkam. These have to be filled with details of the nominees their achievements, references and future plans. The `Radio One Superstar' will receive a trophy and certificate at the Radio One office and will be interviewed on Anoo's show. The first honour goes to Kala Senguthar, 24, from Perambakkam. A victim of polio, she has been working to immunize infants in her village and educating mothers about polio. She also works in a library, encouraging children to cultivate reading habits, and participates in adult literacy programmes. For details, call 66111943.
