NEW DELHI: A new Disease Outbreak Response Cell has been set up at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here to plan and co-ordinate the response of the Institute to the outbreak of diseases. "Learning from the experience of dengue outbreak last year, AIIMS has taken a lead in this endeavour. The Institute bore the brunt of the outbreak of dengue and chikungunya fever last year," said Head of the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department T. T. Dogra. The activities of the cell include organising public education activities at individual and community level to prevent mosquito breeding and promote food hygiene, water sanitation and general cleanliness. "The cell will also operate a telephone and Internet helpline for these educational activities," added AIIMS media centre in-charge Shakti Gupta.
