MUMBAI: Jet Airways will launch its first direct flight to the U.S. on August 5 with the introduction of the wide-bodied Boeing 777-300 ER between Mumbai and Newark via Brussels. This will be followed by four similar direct flights between other cities in the U.S. and Delhi, Bangalore, Ahemdabad and Chennai in a span of nine months, said Naresh Goyal, Chairman and Managing Director, Jet Airways, here on Sunday. Mr. Goyal was speaking to reporters after showcasing Boeing 777-300 ER and Airbus 330-200, another wide-bodied aircraft recently acquired by Jet Airways, to a host of dignitaries. Earlier, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, Chief Executive Officer, Jet Airways, told The Hindu that the airline would be acquiring 10 each of Boeing 777-300 ER and Airbus 330-200 on sale and two Airbuses on lease by October 2008.
