KOZHIKODE: Documents relating to the first ministry of united Kerala, led by E.M.S. Namboodiripad, mirroring many historic occasions the State had witnessed, are being showcased at an exhibition at the Town Hall here from Monday to Wednesday. The exhibition is being conduced by the Archives Department, in association with the Information and Public Relations Department and the district panchayat. Abdul Majeed, archivist, Regional Archives, Kozhikode, said the major Acts passed by the E.M.S Government were on show. Mayor M. Bhaskaran inaugurated the exhibition. K. Somarajan, administrative officer, Archives Department, presided. The Education Bill, Kerala Land Reforms Bill and Kerala Agriculture Debt Relief Bill and others passed in 1957 have been exhibited to provide information on the measures initiated by the first Ministry that laid the foundation of modern Kerala and the path it had travelled in the last 50 years. E.M.S. being sworn in as Chief Minister and members of the first Cabinet appear in the photos on show. Mr. Majeed said the exhibition was also an effort to educate the public on the activities of the Archives Department in collection and scientific preservation of ancient documents and other materials. Speaker K. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the exhibition Navakerala Nirmithiyude Sancharapathangalilekkorethi Nottam at Thiruvananthapuram on April 5. It has been held at centres in the southern districts. The exhibition will be held at Wayanad, Palakkad and Kannur before the valedictory show at Kasaragod on May 31, organisers said.
