PALAKKAD: `Porattam,' a radical organisation has called for the rejection of `so called progressive policies' of the Left parties whose `fifty-year-old parliamentary rule has resulted in the State begging before institutions like the Asian Development Bank (ADB)' for drinking water schemes and other vital needs of the people. In a statement here on Monday, State general convenor of the organisation Mundur Ravunni said that the economic and other policies of the first Communist Government in the State was neo-colonialist and was not an alternative to the capitalist economic policies. "This was the beginning of the `betrayal' of the socialistic form of society promised by the Left parties," he said. In this context a new Left force should emerge to fight against imperialist and neo-colonialist polices, the statement said. He said the net result of the rule in the last fifty years was that farmers in the State were forced to commit suicide. The statement said there were alternative means available to mobilise resources for the development of the State without pleading before the ADB, World Bank and the WTO. These institutions were bent upon protecting the interests of the imperialist forces who wanted to loot the countries with their new policies of globalisation, the statement said.
