Special Correspondent

It accords priority to the economic rejuvenation of Jammu and Kashmir

  • Emphasis on a space of dignity, opportunity for the people
  • State's economic distress a conspiracy of circumstances

SRINAGAR: People's Democratic Party (PDP) founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said on Monday that his party would soon make public its self-rule document, which lays out the roadmap for an amicable and ultimate settlement of the Kashmir issue.

    Outline incentives

"Self-rule, when implemented fully, will not only address the basic grievances and aspirations of the people, but will also outline the incentives and instruments for resolving both the internal and external dimensions of the issue," Mr. Sayeed told a public meeting in the north Kashmir town of Bandipore, which was recently granted district status.

The people had a vital role in shaping up not only their own destiny, but also that of the whole region.
