New Delhi: Members of Parliament belonging to the AIADMK presented a memorandum at the Prime Minister's Office here on Monday urging the Centre to dismiss the DMK Government in Tamil Nadu for the "failure of the law and order situation in the State." In the memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the 12 MPs led by P.G. Narayanan, AIADMK Parliamentary party leader, recalled the incident in Madurai, where the offices of Dinakaran and Sun TV network were set on fire, resulting in the death of three employees. It alleged that the State Government did not take any preventive measures though Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi stated in the Assembly that he was aware that some problem might arise following the publication of a survey report in the newspaper on May 9. The memorandum, citing various other incidents, alleged that the breakdown of law and order was total and could not be retrieved as long as Mr. Karunanidhi remained as Chief Minister. It requested the Prime Minister to rise above the level of political compulsions and dismiss the Government under Article 356 of the Constitution.
