Speaker refers news item to Privileges Committee

CHENNAI: Speaker R. Avudaiappan on Monday referred a news item on the Chief Minister's statement in the Assembly last week on the Madurai incident published by the Tamil eveninger, Tamil Murasu, to the Privileges Committee.

Responding to a plea by Congress members including C. Gnanasekaran, the Speaker said the decision to refer the issue to the Committee was based on prima facie case.
