CHENNAI : Deans and heads of departments of the Madras University on Monday interacted with professor Gary Vanloon of Queens University, Canada and president-elect of Indian Membership Council of the Shastri Indo-Canadian Studies. According to the director of the Centre for Canadian Studies, Madras University, C.T. Indra, the visit of Mr. Vanloon was a prelude to exploring possibilities of collaboration in areas such as wastewater treatment, health, environment and agriculture. The University, which is a member of the Council at Shastri Indo-Canadian Studies, had already deputed faculty to attend workshops on Biotechnology and Health Sciences.
Exchange of knowledge
Mr. Vanloon told the media that the Shastri Indo-Canadian Studies would facilitate exchange of knowledge to handle issues areas such as multi-culturalism, private participation in education, energy conservation, food security and nuclearisation. Registrar in-charge M. Ranganatham briefed Mr. Vanloon about the University's various branches and introduced faculty members.
