CHENNAI: It was an evening of comedy and music. Actor Madan Bob, who started as a music director but later evolved into an actor, took centre stage, conducting his own musical night `Madan Utsav' on Sunday.

He roped in a few participants of `Asathapovathu Yaru', a programme on Sun TV with high TRP ratings. He launched the evening with recent numbers and followed it up with (g)olden melodies. The music was interspersed with humour.

The guests of honour were actor Kamal Haasan and director K.S. Ravikumar. Mr. Haasan commended Madan Bob's musical talent.

"I have come here not only to praise him but also his whole family for their work on the stage. They are a musical family."

Bob's wife Suseela, son Archith and daughter Jey are all singers.

Director K.S. Ravikumar said he was floored when music director A.R. Rahman revealed that Madan Bob was his guru. Music director Iman and Aircel CEO Bhaskar were present.
