Thiruvananthapuram: The Steve Irwin Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Centre set up by the Department of Forest and Wildlife to perpetuate the memory of the acclaimed conservationist and TV personality will be inaugurated at Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary on Tuesday. Forest Minister Benoy Viswom will inaugurate the facility at a function to be held at the Agasthya Nature Study Centre within the sanctuary. V.J. Thankappan, MLA, will preside over the inaugural function. Pannian Ravindran, MP, will be the chief guest. Set up in 1977 under the crocodile protection scheme of the Centre, the crocodile farm at Neyyar is home to 44 muggers or marsh crocodiles.
