dated May 16, 1957: TV unit for Bombay

Preliminary work in connection with the setting up of a television unit in Bombay has been carried out. The project is, however, dependent on the availability of foreign exchange and this question is at present under the consideration of the Government of India. This information was given by Dr. B.V. Keskar, Union Minister for Information, in reply to a question asked by Mr. S.N. Das in the Lok Sabha on May 15. When members from different States asked whether there would be television units in their areas, Prime Minister Nehru intervened to say: "Some of us are not anxious to go ahead with television plans."
