Staff Correspondent
HUBLI: The Director-General of Civil Aviation has given the final approval to Night Landing Facility at Hubli Airport. In a fax message sent from New Delhi, Dharwad North MP Pralhad Joshi has said that the DGCA had issued an order to the Airports Authority of India giving the final approval recently. Hubli Airport had received a temporary approval for night landing facility for six months on March 17, 2005. However, because of the failure to take up certain works to meet the technical specifications required for the facility, the approval had lapsed after the specified period. Later, Mr. Joshi had taken the initiative in this regard. Consequently, the district administration and the officials of the Airports Authority of India had begun the process of getting the approval for night landing facility. He said he would take up the issue of starting the services of night flights to Mumbai, Bangalore and other centres with the Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and with the airlines. The MP has hoped that the officials of AAI would make the required facilities for night landing functional immediately.
