Puducherry: The Jail Warders Association in Puducherry has called off on Tuesday the "work to rule" agitation it launched on May 9 in support of its charter of demands. A release from the association said that a delegation of the Confederation of Associations of the Government Employees and the association held discussions with the Inspector General of Prisons S. Vasudeva Rao on Monday. The IG had promised them that the administration would initiate speedy steps to settle their demands. The warders wanted filling up of all vacant posts, modification of the Recruit Rules and regularisation of casual warders. A team of office-bearers of the association had already held talks with the Chief Minister, and he assured them that their demands would be considered positively.
