Special Correspondent

He is likely to stay there overnight on May 22 or 23

  • Kumaraswamy is likely to stay overnight at a village in Jewargi
  • Jewargi is represented by N. Dharam Singh, former Chief Minister

GULBARGA: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy is expected to visit Gulbarga district next week and stay overnight in a village in Jewargi, the constituency of Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly N. Dharam Singh.

The Chief Minister is likely to stay overnight at Konasirasagi village in Jewargi taluk on May 22 or 23. According to senior Janata Dal (S) leader Kedarlingaiah Hiremath, the Chief Minister's Office in a letter to Saraswati Seethimani, a resident of the village, said the Chief Minister would be visiting Bidar district on May 21 and would try to visit Konasirasagi either on May 22 or 23 and stay there overnight.

Ms. Seethimani, who met the Chief Minister during one of his Janata Darshan programmes in Bangalore, presented a memorandum requesting Mr. Kumaraswamy to see for himself the backwardness of the village.

When there was no response to her request, she wrote a letter to the Chief Minister's Office threatening to commit suicide if Mr. Kumaraswamy did not visit her village.

If Mr. Kumaraswamy's visit materialises, Konasirasagi will be the second village in Gulbarga district where the Chief Minister will be staying overnight. Last year Mr. Kumaraswamy stayed over at Hire Mannur village in Afzalpur taluk.

    Bidar Staff Correspondent reports:

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will stay overnight with the family of a farmer who committed suicide in Bidar district, Agriculture Minister and district in-charge Bandeppa Kashempur announced here on Tuesday.
