MYSORE: Visitors to the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) here can savour an exhibition based on myths and folk beliefs. The travelling exhibition "Anugunj" is a component of the permanent gallery on display at the IGRMS headquarters in Bhopal.
The objects on display are based on myths and relatively unknown to people. Myths being as old as language, these objects also reflect the trajectory of culture. An attempt has been made in the exhibition to make storytellers enter into a dialogue with their myths and belief systems and open their world to the mainstream. Folk artists and tribals from various parts of the country strive to give form to their own beliefs and rituals in the medium of their choice. The museum is reckoned to be the only one of its kind in the country. There are about 50 exhibits by 60 artists from across the country, mostly drawn from remote corners. The travelling exhibition displays a few components of the main gallery and is a modest tribute to celebrate the country's rich and intangible heritage.
