Vanishka wins title

NEW DELHI: Vanishka Aggarwal of Convent of Jesus and Mary School won the Delhi State chess championship in the girls' under-7 category at the Amity International School, Saket, on Tuesday.

The results: Boys: U-7 (fourth round): Chirag Gupta (3) lost to Yashwant Srivastava (4), Anish Jain (4) bt Aryan Bhatia (2), Aryan Garg (2) lost to Swayam Bhatia (3), Lakshay Aggarwal (3) bt Pranjal Dangwal (2), Rahul Marwah (1.5) lost to Pranav Gupta (2), Samar Kidwai (2) bt Aryaman Arora (1), Yash Aggarwal (1.5) drew with Jushaan Singh Kalra (1.5), Shivang Seth (1.5) drew with Chetan Jain (1).

Girls: U-7 (fourth round): Vanishka Aggarwal (4) bt Sharvi Goyal (3); Stuti Dewan (2) lost to Aamna Munjal (2); Chehek Nagpal (1.5) bt Aiyshwarya Lakshmi (1); Yogda Kalra (0.5) lost to Ananya Bagla (2).

Final standings: 1. Vanishka Aggarwal (4), 2. Sharvi Goyal (3), 3. Stuti Dewan and Ananya Bagla (2 each), 5. Chehek Nagpal (1.5), 6. Aiyshwarya Lakshmi (1), 7. Yogda Kalra (0.5).

U-15 (third round): M. Sravya (2) bt Madhurima Shekhar (0), Preetika Tayal (1.5) drew with Kanika Saxena (0.5).

Top teams for league

Some of the leading teams like defending champion FCI, North Zone; Northern Railway, Delhi Audit, Zakir Hussain College and RBI are expected to compete in the DSA institutional and `A' division football league scheduled to begin in the last week of May.

DSA will hold a summer coaching camp for school boys and girls in the age group of 8 to 16 years, from May 20 to June 30. For details, contact the DSA office at the Ambedkar Stadium.
