Honour for BITS Pilani student

JAIPUR: A second year student of electrical and electronic engineering at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) in Pilani has been selected for the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program in New York. She is one of 15 students from India chosen for the prestigious programme.

Karthika is also among 75 students from across the world who would be visiting New York in the second week of July to attend the leadership training and to interact with renowned leaders in public, civic and private sectors, build ties and exchange experiences. The students have been selected from over 90 of the world's top ranking universities and colleges after a preliminary round in which 150 second year students had participated.

Goldman Sachs Foundation conducts the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program to train and develop tomorrow's educators, policy makers, business leaders, research scientists, social entrepreneurs and other professionals to create an international network.

The Institute of International Education (IIE) in partnership with educational organisations in select countries conducted the annual international competition in 19 countries.

The competition identified and rewarded the academic excellence and leadership potential of 150 students the world over.

Besides, BITS Pilani, the institutions from India which participated in the Golden Sachs Global Leaders Program this year included Ferguson College, IIT Kanpur, Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi, Loyola College, Chennai, Mount Carmel College, Bangalore, the National Law School of India, University Nizam College, Presidency College, Kolkata, St. Stephen's College, Delhi, and St. Xavier's College, Mumbai.
