CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday asked the Centre to extend the last date for wheat procurement from May 31 to June 30. In a letter to the Centre, he pointed out that wheat arrivals in the grain markets had been delayed due to late maturity of crop and manual harvesting. As the crop was still arriving in the markets, it would be appropriate to extend the last date for procurement to June 30, wrote Mr. Badal, urging the Centre to issue necessary instructions to the procurement agencies..
