CHANDIGARH: Temperatures suddenly rose in Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday with the mercury soaring to a blistering 45.9 degrees Celsius in Hisar, making it the hottest place in the two States. It was also the season's hottest day so far in Hisar, with the maximum standing five degrees above normal. Elsewhere in Haryana, too, temperatures went up with Karnal recording a high of 41 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal. Ambala also registered a maximum of 40.2 degrees Celsius, a degree above normal. In Punjab, a 90-year-old man has died due to sun stroke here pushing the death toll in the heat wave sweeping across the State to five. Ludhiana was the hottest place, recording a maximum of 42.4 degrees Celsius .PTI.
