KARIMNAGAR: Three naxalites of CPI (Maoist), including Manthani LGS commander, surrendered before Superintendent of Police Y. Gangadhar here on Tuesday. The surrendered trio were LGS commander Erukala Gattaiah (25), Maoists Dalam member Erneni Narayana(25) and Praja Prathigatana group Manair dalam commander Nanavath Ramlal Nayak (28). Gattaiah was involved in the attack on Koraput police station in Orissa in 2003 and Kukunoor police station in Khammam district in 2005. Talking to newsmen, the naxalites said that there was no fresh recruitment in naxalite groups and people had distanced themselves from them. They also said that naxalites had retreated from Karimnagar to other parts including Chhattisgarh. The Superintendent of Police attributed the decline in the naxalite movement due to continuous combing operations.
