ADILABAD: Union Minister for Heavy Industry Santosh Mohan Deb has asked the Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Industries (BRPSI) to re-examine revival of the closed Adilabad unit of Cement Corporation of India (CCI) following a representation on May 9 by trade union leaders. This is the second time when the BRPSI will be examining the revival of the CCI unit and it augurs a happy phase according to S. Vilas, general secretary of the CCI Employees' Union here. Mr. Vilas told The Hindu that a delegation comprising Communist Party of India floor leader in Lok Sabha and ITUC general secretary Gurudas Dasgupta, national secretaries --D.L. Sachdeva and G.L. Dhar -- D. Krishna Reddy, treasurer and K. Laxmaiah organising secretary of CCIEU had met the Union Minister at New Delhi and apprised him of the viability of the unit in the wake of heavy demand for cement in the country. Concurring with the point of view of the delegation, the Minister asked for re- examination of the revival issue, he said. At current price of cement the revival will certainly be viable, he added.
