Cane crushing season extended

This is in view of excess production in Medak, Nizamabad

HYDERABAD: The State Government has directed the representatives of the sugar factories in Medak and Nizamabad districts to crush the entire sugarcane available in Medak district without further delay.

Minister for Cooperation Mohd. Fareeduddin took up the issue with the representatives on Monday in view of excess sugarcane production in the area.

The meeting attended by the officials of Trident Sugars Limited, Zaheerabad, Nizam Deccan Sugars Limited, Medak and GSR Sugars Private Limited, Nizamabad was told that the crushing season must be extended up to May 31. The original deadline ended on Tuesday.

The State Government took the decision to extend the period following the demand from farmers of the region.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation has directed the sugar factories to stick to their levy quotas. The Centre had re-allotted 4,109.9 metric tonne of levy sugar to the factories.
