NEW DELHI: The recording of the statement of Nitish Katara murder case prime accused Vikas Yadav in a Delhi court was finally completed on Tuesday. The accused claimed that he had been implicated in the case with the intention of ruining his political career. Deposing before Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur, Vikas Yadav claimed that he had been framed in the case because he was making rapid strides in his political career. With the recording of the statement, which began on Monday, now complete, the court has asked the defence to be ready with its witnesses. The recording of their evidence would begin on May 30. Vikas, who had been complaining of ill health, will be checked up by the doctors at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here on Wednesday. Vikas' cousin Vishal Yadav has also been accused of kidnapping and killing Nitish Katara on February 16, 2002, in Ghaziabad allegedly because the two were opposed to his close friendship with Vikas Yadav's sister.
