Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday stayed the arrest of former Punjab Minister Jagjit Singh in the graft case registered against him and 18 others in connection with the Ludhiana City Centre scam. Justice R S Randhawa stayed the arrest till July 30 and directed the Congress leader to join the investigations within a week. Former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and 18 others were booked by Punjab Vigilance Bureau on March 24 for alleged corruption and cheating in connection with the real estate Ludhiana City Centre scam.
Abetting
Three weeks after Parkash Singh Badal became Chief Minister, the Vigilance Bureau in its FIR had charged the former Chief Minister with violating all norms in patronising and abetting the dilution of terms and conditions to favour a particular party in executing the city centre project.
Chairman
Besides former Local Bodies Minister Chaudhary Jagjit Singh, former State Congress chief H S Hanspal and the then chairman of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust Wg Cdr (retd) Paramjit Singh Sibia are also among those booked in the case.- PTI
