Panel to oversee developmental works

CHENNAI: The State Government has constituted a three-member monitoring committee in the office of the Chief Minister to ensure proper implementation of developmental works.

T.V. Somanathan, secretary of the Planning, Development and Special Initiatives department, will head the committee. One more officer of the Indian Administrative Service and a district revenue officer will form part of the panel, according to an official release issued on Tuesday.

The panel would function directly under the control of Chief Minister M. Karuananidhi. It would make on-the-spot study and assess the quality of the execution of the works. It would also ascertain the opinion of people.
