Southern suburbs put up good show in Plus Two exams

Madambakkam Government HSS boasts pass percentage of 97.3%

TAMBARAM : Students of schools in the southern suburbs of Chennai continued their good performance, securing State and district level ranks in the results of the plus two examinations declared on Monday.

S.U.Harini of Prince Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Nanganallur, stood first not only in Chengalpattu Education District, but entire Kancheepuram revenue district, securing 1,177 marks. (Schools in the southern suburbs of Chennai come under the jurisdiction of Chengalpattu education district).

Last year, the same school had produced the State topper in Bharat Ram.

T.Nilofer of N.S.N.Matriculation HSS in Chitlapakkam and K.Bhuvana of Sita Devi Garodia Matriculation HSS in East Tambaram came second in Chengalpattu education district with both of them securing 1,169 marks each, according to senior officials of the Education Department. The three girl students had opted for Tamil as their language paper. Among students who had opted for language papers other than Tamil, Padma Lavanya of SDAV, Adambakkam emerged the topper with 1,186 marks.

Her language paper was Sanskrit. Joy James Prabhu of Zion Matriculation HSS, Indira Nagar, Selaiyur was second, scoring 1,180 marks and he opted for French. S. Shobhana of NSN Matriculation, Chitlapakkam and V. Jagadish of Sri Sankara Vidyalaya, East Tambaram, secured 1,177 marks each. They opted for Sanskrit, officials said.

Among government schools, J. Divya of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Chromepet was the topper of Chengalpattu Education district with 1,162 marks, followed by Ramya of Jaigopal Garodia Government HSS, Nanganallur with 1,138 marks.

Among government schools in Chengalpattu Education District, Madambakkam Government HSS had the best record with a pass percentage of 97.3 per cent followed by Sholinganallur Government HSS with 90.77 per cent, officials added.
