Mayor orders cleaning of Marina pool

Chennai: Mayor M. Subramanian made a surprise inspection of the Chennai Corporation swimming pool at Marina on Tuesday and ordered the pool be immediately cleaned.

Mr. Subramanian's visit followed phone calls from the public about poor hygiene at the pool. He found the water dirty and the facility badly maintained although Monday is allotted for cleaning every week.

The Mayor directed officials to change the water and improve maintenance.

The pool was closed to the public after the inspection and will reopen on Thursday after it is cleaned, a Corporation release here said.
