The Hindu Property Plus to organise public meet on master plan

Staff Reporter

Discussion to be held on Saturday

CHENNAI : The Hindu Property Plus is organising a public discussion on the second draft master plan for Chennai on May 19. It would be held at Days' Inn Deccan Plaza, 36, Royapettah High Road, between 5.30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

After a gap of 31 years, the draft master plan for Chennai is now published and open for public opinion.

The Property Plus has taken the initiative and created a public platform for its readers to discuss the proposed plans.

The proposed plan envisages Chennai to grow along its major roads towards south, southeastern and southwestern corridors.

The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) proposes three satellite towns, an extended IT corridor and new metro rail corridors amongst other things. Many changes to existing building regulations are also proposed.

These plans and projects are expected to regulate the future growth and improve the present condition of Chennai.

The CMDA would present the important features of the plan, policy changes and new development projects on May 19.

The Property Plus has organised a discussion on this plan to have a meaningful public consultation.

Invitations for this discussion are available with The Hindu office. Interested readers can mail to chennaimasterplan@thehindu.co.in for invitations.
