Costly delay for project

A tourism project for Kumarakom was delayed because of baseless allegations of corruption. The disclosure came from Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy at a function in Kochi recently.

The incident occurred more than two decades ago when he was an MLA.

A stretch of land, involved in a dispute, was to be handed over to the Government.

He had negotiated the deal, but the project was abandoned in the wake of the allegations.

In effect, it delayed the entry of Kumarakom in the tourism map by two decades, he said.
