V. Jayamohan.
COIMBATORE: Long hours of hard work did not prove futile for V. Jayamohan from SIV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Sirumugai. Having secured 1,179 marks out of 1,200, he stands third in the State in the Plus-Two examinations, results of which were published on Monday. The State rank has not come as a surprise to Jayamohan who has been a consistent performer in school. "I am too excited to speak," he gushed as media persons lapped up every word he uttered. He comes first in the Coimbatore revenue district. Jayamohan's ambition is to become a `famous doctor.' According to him, the Plus-Two examinations can be modified by introducing questions that will test the application, skill and intelligence of the students. "In this way, the best students can be filtered out from the rest for the professional colleges," he says. "I never watch much television," he adds. However, he does not confine his interests merely to academics. "Though I did not devote much time to my hobbies during Standard XII, I love playing chess and tennis," he says. His most preferred method of relaxation is spending time with his four pet dogs and watching the fish in his aquarium.
