HYDERABAD: The stalemate over the post-graduate medical admissions may be resolved soon with Minister for Medical Education and Health Insurance Galla Aruna Kumari assuring the agitating medical students to examine their plea for re-counselling.

The Minister visited the relay hunger strike camp of Andhra Pradesh PG Aspirants Association on Tuesday. She inaugurated PG Girls Hostel with 11 rooms on the Osmania Medical College campus.

The members represented to her that injustice had been done to local candidates due to the lopsided procedure of PG counselling and improper implementation of G.O. 74. Even after the High Court issued orders in favour of re-counselling, the University of Health Sciences remained indifferent to the issue, they said.

When the students appealed to her that a decision be taken soon to protect their academic year as May 31 was the deadline for finalisation of admissions, Ms. Aruna assured them to examine the G.O., take a legal opinion and bring it to the notice of the Chief Minister.
