Fire safety: notices soon to highrises

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A high-level meeting comprising officials from the Fire Services Department, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and other departments was held here on Tuesday to initiate necessary steps for implementing recommendations made by the high-power committee.

A senior official said notices would soon be issued to owners of 1,500 multi-storied buildings, which had ignored mandatory fire safety measures. The meeting also discussed in detail the constitution of the high-power multi disciplinary committee to review the fire control measures taken in public places like shopping malls, cinema theatres, hotels, etc.

An action plan would be chalked out after another meeting, he said.
