6 more passports seized from Rasheed's house

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The city police on Tuesday said they seized six passports of different persons from the residence of Rasheed, the alleged kingpin in the passport fraud case. A telephone diary, some CDs and photos of a woman, Sangeeta, and her husband, Jagdish Patel, were also recovered from his house.

Police believe that Sangeeta is the same woman who appeared for interview at the US Consulate, Chennai, claiming to be TRS legislator Kasipeta Lingaiah's wife. They hope the telephone diary and CDs would help them connect Rasheed's alleged complicity in the fraud.

They surrendered Rasheed, who was taken into police custody for the past four days, before a local court here, stating that his interrogation was completed. He was remanded to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, the court dismissed the bail petition of Lingaiah who had been in judicial custody for the past few days after surrendering before a court after a fraud case was registered against him.
