The company, which has 114 personnel, is permitted to carry arms and can detain
BRPL has become the Capital's second discom after BYPL where this trained force is being deployed.
At a function organised here on Tuesday to welcome the CISF personnel, BRPL Management Committee member Ajay Dhagat described the deployment of CISF for controlling power theft in Delhi as a milestone of sorts.
In tandem
The CISF personnel would be working in tandem with the Delhi police and assist BRPL enforcement teams in their drive against power theft in South Delhi and West Delhi.
According to a BSES spokesperson, "since July 2002, BSES' drive against power theft has seen over 53,000 cases being booked and a power theft load of over 3.3 lakh kW being unearthed. BSES' drive against power theft has also seen over 160 power thieves being sent to jail since April 2006. BRPL and BYPL have also brought about a record reduction in power theft in their respective areas."
BSES sources said while BRPL had reduced AT&C losses in its area from 51.4 per cent in July 2002 to 29.9 per cent, the corresponding figures for BYPL are 63.1 per cent and 39.1 per cent.
