One killed in accident

KOCHI: A private bus fatally knocked down a two-wheeler rider at the High Court Junction on Tuesday morning. The victim was identified as Sajan (45), son of Peter, Malippuram. His brother, who too was on the bike, escaped with injuries. Traffic was disrupted for around an hour. — Staff Reporter

3 hurt in clash

KOCHI: Three youths were injured in a clash between two gangs at Thattampadi, Cheranaloor, on Tuesday night. The injured had been admitted to the Amritha hospital. A police team is camping in the area. — Staff Reporter

Minister to inaugurate scheme

KOCHI: Water Resources Minister N.K. Premachandran will inaugurate the works on the Turuthipuram Feeder Pipeline of the Kerala Water Authority and the Puthenvelikkara Rural Water Supply Renovation Scheme on Friday. Fisheries Minister S. Sarma will preside. — Staff Reporter

Date extended

KOCHI: Ernakulam RTO M.N. Prabhakaran has said that the Government has extended the deadline to collect vehicle tax from private buses not fitted with speed governors, by another 15 days. This was decided at a high-level meeting in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday. The Government had earlier decided not to collect tax from buses which had not been fitted with speed governors, from Tuesday. — Staff Reporter

Port employees' meet

KOCHI: The 13th annual meet of the Cochin Port Employees Organisation (CPEO) will be held over four days from May 19. A seminar on the potential and challenges before the port will mark the opening of the annual meet, said a release. The former MP E. Balanandan will inaugurate the meet and Port Trust Chairman N. Ramachandran will deliver the keynote address. Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy will inaugurate a family meet of the employees on the second day.— Staff Reporter
