GUNTUR: On the eve of World Museums Day the Archeological Survey of India Hyderabad Circle will organise competitions for high school students at Amaravathi Buddha Museum on Thursday. High School students up to the age of 15 years have been invited to participate in essay writing, drawing, national songs rendering, and quiz competitions from 11 a.m. on the Amaravathi museum premises. The Superintending Archeologist D. Jithender Das said that the Museums Day celebrations were mainly aimed at improving awareness about our cultural heritage and improving their role in enrichment of culture, world peace and overall development of mankind. A function will be organised on Friday at 6 p.m. on the museum premises where all the winners of the competitions for children awarded prizes. Prominent persons from various colleges, and other institutions had been invited as guests on the occasion to speak to the students on the importance of museums. The Assistant Superintending Archaeologist D. Kanna Babu said that while papers would be provided by the ASI for the competitions, the students have to bring their own painting and drawing material and pens and pencils for other competitions.
