RBI buys $27 b forex in 2006-07

MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank of India bought foreign currencies worth Rs. 1,19,000 crore ($26.82 billion) in 2006-07, a near three-fold rise from the previous year, to check the strengthening rupee in the wake of strong capital inflows, according to data released by the central bank.
