Crucial apex court verdict today

Legal Correspondent

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will give on Thursday its verdict on the question of referring to a larger Bench the petitions challenging the legislation providing 27 per cent reservation for the Other Backward Classes in elite Central educational institutions and the 93rd Constitution Amendment empowering the Centre and States to enact quota laws.

On May 9, a Bench consisting of Justices Arijit Pasayat and L.S. Panta reserved orders on these petitions. Solicitor-General G.E. Vahanvati submitted a list of consolidated questions. The Bench, in its order, is expected to incorporate the questions that are necessary for adjudication.
