BHOPAL: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has told potential investors in Los Angeles that Madhya Pradesh is the transport and logistic hub of India, adding that India has surpassed other countries as a hot spot for investment. The Chief Minister cited a report from The New York Times saying India was presently going through an industrial renaissance and more products with "made in India" rather than the "made in China" tag were now entering the market. Mr. Chauhan was speaking to industrialists, businessmen and investors in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He said India was the fastest growing country and Madhya Pradesh its fastest growing State. "The last three years have been a period of unprecedented infrastructure development in Madhya Pradesh," he said adding that the State had completed ongoing power projects ahead of schedule and foundations of new power generation units had been laid. The Chief Minister said complete industrial peace prevails in Madhya Pradesh and during the last decade there has been no loss of man-days due to labour strikes in the State.
Tourism potential
Dwelling at length on the immense tourism development potential and investment opportunities in this sector in Madhya Pradesh, he said just as Los Angeles was a metropolitan city, Madhya Pradesh was a melting pot of diverse cultural backgrounds. He said the Panna air strip in Madhya Pradesh was being privatised. About the condition of roads in Madhya Pradesh, he said that over the years the situation had improved considerably.
MoU signed
A memorandum of understanding was signed between Nupur Nagar, an industrialist, and Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation for converting the Laxami Vilas Palace at Panna into a wellness centre. The State Tourism Development Corporation would play the role of a facilitator in this project. M.P. State Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Ashwin Lohani made a presentation on different aspects of tourism and investment prospects in the tourism sector in Madhya Pradesh. A film on tourism, produced by Madhya Pradesh Madhyam, was also screened. The Chief Minister also held detailed discussions with potential investors at a business meet organised at the Los Angeles City Centre by the U.S.-Indo Business Council. Paramount Farm owner Mark Magson said he would export pistachio nuts and import mangoes from India. "Madhya Pradesh is one of the three states short-listed for this purpose," he added. The Chief Minister extended invitation to all those present on this occasion to attend the Global Investors Meet to be held at Bhopal in October.
