KURNOOL: Collector M. Dana Kishore has urged seed companies to help eradicate child labour in the district. Mr. Kishore convened a meeting with officials of various departments and representatives of seed companies here on Tuesday as majority of child workers were employed by the seed industry. Mr. Kishore wanted to know from the company representatives their initiative to check employing of children in seed cotton fields. He discussed the programme of Monsanto, which gave an incentive Rs. 11 per kg for seed produced without involving children. The representatives said the area under seed cotton was declining because of restrictions on child workers.
