Three killed as van hits auto

ANANTAPUR: Three persons were killed and five others injured seriously when the auto in which they were travelling was hit by a van on the Gooty Road on the outskirts of the district headquarters on Wednesday. The injured were admitted to the General Hospital here.

According to the police, a van and an auto were on way to the town from Garladinne when another auto tried to overtake the van. The van allegedly hit the auto from behind. Two passengers in the auto -- S. Allabaksh (39), who works as a hamili in the RTC bus station here, and a 30-year-old unidentified woman -- were killed on the spot.

Another unidentified 19-year-old boy succumbed to injuries in the hospital. In another accident, an eight-year-old boy was run over by a speeding vehicle at Itukalapalli near Sri Krishnadevaraya University.
