CBSE exams results by month-end

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education examination results for Classes XII and X are expected to be declared towards the end of this month, a CBSE official said on Wednesday.

"We can't confirm any date for the results as of now. However, they are likely to be out by this month-end," said the official.

More than 12 lakh students took the Class XII and Class X examinations this year, nearly a lakh more than last year. The Class XII examinations got over in the second week of April, while the Class X exams finished by March-end.

27 more properties sealed in Delhi

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday sealed 27 commercial properties operating from residential premises in the Capital.

Ten properties were targeted on Grand Trunk Road in Civil Lines Zone. In Shahdara (North), nine properties were sealed. One property each was sealed in Pandav Nagar, Lajpat Nagar and Gautam Nagar. In Najafgarh, two properties were sealed in Sadh Nagar. Three properties were targeted in Rohini. A total of 1,587 properties have been sealed in the city since March 28 when the drive was resumed.

Save schools from sealing: BJP

NEW DELHI: Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday urged the Union Urban Development Minister to frame a liberal policy and file an affidavit in court to save hundreds of schools running on Delhi Development Authority land from sealing.

In a statement, Dr. Vardhan said the Ministry should adopt a humanitarian view as the issue was linked with the future of a large number of children studying in these schools.

BJP councillors call on Shivraj Patil

NEW DELHI: A delegation of BJP councillors called on Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil earlier this week to discuss various civic issues. The meeting lasted an hour.

Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra brought to his notice the shortage of experienced and efficient senior officers in the MCD. She also requested the Home Minister to grant greater financial powers to the executive wing of the municipal body so that development work was not delayed.

Three years' jail for young man

New Delhi: A 24-year-old young man charged with attempting to rape a minor after intimidating her two years ago has been sentenced to three years' rigorous imprisonment by a city court after the girl deposed against him.
